Old Stuff

WE LOVE OLD STUFF

We admit it. We have an obsession for vintage. With such a passion, we find ourselves going to great lengths for old things.

OUR EQUIPMENT

Equipped with a Heidelberg windmill, Vandercook proof press, Potdevin gluer, Challenge paper cutter, corner rounder, antique book press and a collection of wood and metal type, OUR OLD, HARD WORKING EQUIPMENT TRANSFORMS OUR IDEAS INTO MODERN PRODUCTS. Our options are limitless.

OUR VINTAGE WRAPPING PAPER COLLECTION

One of our favorite things is our collection of vintage wrapping paper. We have over 100 designs and SPENT COUNTLESS HOURS MOVING IT AROUND, RESEARCHING HOW TO SHEET IT (HOW TO TRANSFER IT FROM ITS ORIGINAL ROLL TO A FLAT SHEET—DIFFICULT DUE TO ITS AGE).Thankfully our friends at the Citizens Development Center, who train and employ adults with disabilities, cut each piece by hand. They’re the best.

OUR STUDIO

Here’s the ultimate proof of how much we like old stuff. We put our sanity (not to mention our budget) on the line to renovate a century-old historic space. IT WAS ON THE VERGE OF COLLAPSE WHEN WE GOT IT. WE WERE ON THE VERGE OF COLLAPSE BY THE TIME WE FINISHED. But the space was just too cool not to restore it. And we love, love, how it turned out. We’d do it all again. Maybe.

OUR PARTY INSPIRATION

We still think there’s something to those THOUGHTFUL BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS WE HAD AT HOME GROWING UP in the 1970s and 1980s. It was exciting to pick the cake mom was going to bake from Baker’s Cut-Up Cake Party Book. And enjoyed seeing the parents throw a dinner party (boy, could they entertain!). THEY TAUGHT US TO HAVE FUN, the importance of basic manners, and social graces.

WE REPURPOSE OLD INTO SOMETHING NEW

Of course we recycle, drive a hybrid and do everything to reduce our carbon footprint. It’s the right thing to do as parents and as a company. But we’re totally passionate about SAVING OLD STUFF AND USING IT FOR SOMETHING NEW. Recycled newspaper shaped into a handmade piñata. Old wrapping paper die cut into beautiful lined envelopes. Antique presses running again printing modern stationery. A historic building saved from being torn down and now an incredible working studio. IT’S HOW WE DO GREEN.
